I am Alicia Sol.

I’m a freelance writer and translator, a radio fan, and a music lover, living in northeast China.

For the past five years, I have been striving for a rational intellectual life, studying history, philosophy, psychology and languages. Drowned in the global information overload and exploding social media waves, I was eager to survive only by struggling.

In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic year, I was inspired by David Lynch’s autobiography and the book he mentioned, The Art Spirit. Both authors showed me the way back to my heart.

Reading the books above revealed my long-hidden desire for unique self-expression covered by modern routines.

I realized my life had just begun, as in the song of Carpenters.

Early life experience used to hold me back whenever I tried to feel myself.

Thanks to this tumultuous age, I finally decided to meet myself again.

soEmo means “so emotional”.

I named it in a positive way reminding how humans experience first-hand life and honor their memories in subjective ways.
